The University of Michigan has an opening for a full-time embryologist to join the team at the Center for Reproductive Medicine in Ann Arbor, MI.  The growing program performs around 200 IVF cycles per year and currently employs 2 embryologists and 1 andrologist.

JOB SUMMARY
This qualified candidate will function as a "hands on" laboratory director and coordinator for Andrology, IVF and all other laboratory services within our practice. The UCL Laboratory of Gynecology is seeking two dynamic young scientists
wishing to do a PhD thesis on uterine fibroids or to work on tissue
engineering in the context of fertility preservation in cancer patients
by cryopreservation and grafting of ovarian tissue.

This is the required profile for the student interested in the uterine
fibroids:

- Master in biomedical, chemical or pharmaceutical sciences, doctor of

Embryologist                      



Position Summary:

Under general direction performs complete assisted reproductive
technologies, including in vitro fertilization, embryo transfer,
intracytoplasmic injection, assisted hatching, cryopreservation, Andrology
and endocrinology..  Makes decisions concerning the disposition of the
embryos. Must be able to function in the OR according to sterile protocols
and is able to assist the physician with embryo transfers



Job Duties include but not limited to the following:

*         Independently decides when oocytes are ready for fertilization,
which embryos are normally fertilized, which embryos are to be used for
transfer, which are to be continued in culture, which are to be
cryopreserved/vitrified and responsible for decisions concerning the
disposition of all embryos.

*         Prefer experience with embryo biopsy, tryphectoderm biopsy, PGD
and PGS (Preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screening).

*         Prefer experience with both embryo and oocyte vitrification.

*         Completes laboratory reports, QC logs, mouse embryo testing and
reporting on all IVF media and plastic ware.

*         Maintains laboratory equipment, sets up and maintains SART file on
each patient and reports the results of each cycle in accordance with CDC
and SART and FDA regulations.

*         Participates in the quality assurance monitoring and the process
improvement programs.





Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor's of science degree in chemistry, biology, physics or
a related discipline.

Experience: Requires IVF experience (including ICSI and AH) or 5 years as a
clinical or research laboratory scientist.  Preference is given to people
who have experience in assisted reproductive technologies, tissue culture
techniques as they apply to gamete handling and incubation, lab processes,
and sterile techniques.

Licensure: None

Skills & Abilities: Must have organizational and clerical skills along with
basic computer skills and familiar with data entry.  Must be able to
communicate clearly with program staff.  Must be able to consistently
exercise discretion and judgment.

Position Posting: Andrology/Tissue Banking Technician

Experienced part time Andrology and Tissue Banking Technician needed for Fertility Program in Naperville and Schaumburg, IL. Duties include performing semen analysis and sperm cryopreservation with quality control, report generation, appropriate documentation. Duties also include maintenance of existing sperm and embryo bank including receiving donor sperm and placing in inventory, maintaining banks, preparing frozen samples for transfer out of the facility and updating inventory records. Bachelors degree and at least two years of experience in Andrology laboratory and reproductive tissue banking required. Superior communication skills, attention to detail, flexibility and good computer skills essential.

This is a part time position with flexible hours, averaging 10-12 per week, which will include some Saturday or evening hours at both locations. (This will not become a full time job.) We are open to adapting the work schedule around your existing position provided you can work one half day every week on a weekday. Hourly rate based on experience.
